Snapping this photo earned my friend Maria an “uh-uh” Delta-esque finger waggle; I’m so psyched that she was able to catch it! How else would we be able to share government secrets about road painting in Liberia? This may be the most inefficient public works project I have ever seen. What you can’t tell is that this activity is taking place on (a) the busiest thoroughfare in Liberia, and (b) at rush hour, no less. The traffic was backed up about half a mile.
I’m glad that these kind of projects get people jobs… but really. Can’t this be done differently? And why does it have to be so secret?
It is also worth mentioning that the sign behind this gentleman says “MPW (Ministry of Public Works) Men Working.” As far as I can tell, both of those painters are young ladies. Curious, no?
